Metastatic Breast Cancer: “I Am the One Who Lives” | Living with Metastases

June is Cancer Survivor Month. A month dedicated to recognising and celebrating people who are living with and beyond cancer.
At the same time, it is important for us to talk about women living with metastatic breast cancer. Women who are also living their lives, managing their daily routines, raising families, working, loving, hoping, and coping with their disease every day.
In line with the “I Am the One Who Lives” campaign by the Metastatic Breast Cancer Switzerland Association, the latest episode of our Breast Health podcast is dedicated to this important topic.
Metastatic Breast Cancer: Talking About Life, Not Just the Disease
In this episode, PD Dr. med. Constanze Elfgen, Senior Consultant and Breast Surgeon at Affidea brustCare Breast Center Zurich, speaks with Anna Farris, founder of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Switzerland Association and herself living with metastatic breast cancer.
Together, they speak openly about life with metastases, visibility, prejudice, and how everyday life changes when cancer is no longer curable. The focus is not only on the disease itself, but above all on the woman behind it: her life, her identity, and her wish not to be defined solely by her diagnosis.
This episode provides insight into the reality of women living with metastatic breast cancer and highlights why greater public awareness, understanding, and education are needed. At the same time, it encourages open conversations about the topic and helps give a voice to those affected.
An episode for patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and anyone who would like to better understand what it means to live with metastatic breast cancer.
This podcast episode is also available as a video on YouTube.
